Bay of Tilde, 10th century explorers, Asterism.

This remote island nation in the Indian Ocean was discovered in the 10th century by explorer Sant Sharrif on an expedition to find routes through the Himalayas. Swept into the Bay of Tilde, Sharrif founded the basis what came to be known as San Serriffe, consisting of  two main islands named “Caissa Superiore” and “Caissa Inferiore” that form a semi-colon shape. Occupied by Portugal, Spain and, briefly, Luxembourg, San Serriffe claimed independence in 1967. The country has three large cities  Arial, Port Clarendon and the capital Bodoni  that boast a diverse culture combining elements of Hinduism, Islam and Christianity as well as animism, into a unique system known as Asterism.
