No Mines in Jokkmokk/Inga gruvor i Jokkmokk

Elena and Jon-Isak Sunna help their father, Sami activist artist, Anders Sunna create an on location art installation at Gallok (also known as Kallak). Gallok holds one of Scandinavia's largest iron ore deposits and is based just 30 kilometers from Laponia, a UNESCO world heritage site and an important grazing area for the Sami reindeer herding community. This area has become a battleground for the fight to protect Sami reindeer grazing land from Beowulf, a British mining company that has plans to use the area as it's next iron ore site. Plans for the mine have been held up in the Swedish courts for 7 years and the community continues to hold protests as they anxiously wait for an answer from the government. July 19, 2019.
