During an unprecedented summer snowstorm, geographer Gunhild "Ninis" Rosqvist uses fluorescence to measure glacial meltwater discharge from Tarfala Valley on July 1, 2019. As director of the Tarfala Research Station she has monitored the effects of climate change and pollution on Sweden's tallest glaciers for over three decades and has never before experienced a summer snowstorm. The station’s measurements were critical to showing that the glacier's iconic southern peak melted during a record heat wave last summer. Elisa Ferrari
