Dimitris Ladopoulos Interview

Craftsmanship, flamenco guitars, the Parthenon.

Dimitris Ladopoulos and the team at Deep Green Sea Productions capture in stunning detail the intricacies of craftsmanship in their short film series, “The Art of Making.” Their focus on artful makers whose careful attention ensures their handmade pieces retain quality that will last. They traveled to see how flamenco guitars are made, condensing the nearly 300-hour process into this beautiful piece called “Alma Flamenca.”

Where are you based, and where is your next trip?

We are based in Athens, Greece. Our next trip is for Denver (for a project).

If you could go any place in time to see the way something was made, what would it be?

Being Greeks, I guess the construction of the Parthenon would be perfect.

When you travel, name for me the top three things you always have to pack to keep you sane.

Guide for the local area/language, sketchbook, and camera.
