In the Spring of 2011 I went to Israel and Palestine and traveled around for a little over a month. I tried to keep things moving, never staying in one place for more than a few days. I took a lot of bus and taxi rides to get around and was always taking pictures out the windows. I like those kind of snap-shots, taken from vehicles, while on the move. You see something, “Snap!”, it’s gone.

I walked around a lot over there, talked to people, shot pictures. I was looking to get a sense of the place. These photographs are me trying to figure things out as I went…discovering a strange and beautiful place. I didn’t really know what I was doing but I kept moving and kept shooting and I left with a better understanding of the place, the people, and their struggles…
